Release policy

It is the position of the OLMBA that a player must play where he/she lives, therefore no releases will be given to a player if there is a position available on the rep team for their age group within the OLMBA.  Exceptions to this rule will be assessed on a case by case basis (process outlined below).

Players wishing to change teams outside of the OLMBA, must request their release in writing to the rep director of the OLMBA.  The release request must outline the reasons for the release and an in person meeting may be requested by the OLMBA.   A release form will only be issued with the approval of the OLMBA executive, signed by the President.  This can only occur at a meeting of the board (which meets every third Monday of each month) or a special meeting as called by the President, with at least half of the executive present.

If the player wishes to play for a team in another affiliate, then both a local release (OLMBA) and an affiliate release (EOBA) would be required.

If a player has never played OBA baseball, and wishes to play for an association other than where they live, a release is still required as outlined above.

If a player requests a release and is denied by OLBMA, they can appeal that decision to our affiliate, the EOBA.  If the EOBA upholds the decision of the OLMBA, the player may then appeal to Baseball Ontario.

"Baseball Oshawa will not support or approve a release of a player who resides in Oshawa whereby there is an age appropriate rep team offered by the association"
